About the Artist

DICK PHILLIPS

Dick has made quite a splash with this creative version of the Adirondack chair. The son of a well known boat builder, Dick has lived most of his life around the water in Florida.

After finishing school, Dick headed to Norway for two years to learn yacht construction. During this time he discovered a passion for wood working and today works with a company in Turkey building wood yachts.

Starting with traditional Adirondack chairs, his variations evolved into the popular, colorful waterski chairs he builds today. When not buidling chairs and boats, Dick enjoys hanging with Judy and their seven cats!

Customer Testimonials

"When I first saw one of the chairs in Coastal Living I knew I had to have one or I needed to give one as a gift. Someone needed it in their lives. My parents just happened to be building a new house and I thought it would be the perfect gift for their new home. I couldn't have imagined a nicer experience. Dick really worked with me to make sure the chair was perfect for them...the right colors etc. The chair turned out to be amazing and my parents are thrilled with the chair and plan to add to their collection. Thanks so much Dick for everything!"

"I am so sorry, I keep meaning to take a picture of the chair all by itself. I have one but my grandkids are in it. I will work on sending you that. My husband was so surprised and excited when I gave him the chair for Christmas. We had a party the night I gave him the chair and everyone loved it! It was so easy to put together and you were a pleasure to work with. You promised me the chair by Christmas and you were true to your word. Thank you so much for making my gift to my husband so special. It was a pleasure dealing with you. Please put me on your mailing list when you get it up and running."

"I would like to write and tell you how beautiful the ski chairs are. As you know we are Architects and Interior Designers, and clients come to expect great design and eccentric looking items in our office. Your chairs fit right in to that design theme. Many of our clients love the chairs and the original thought put behind their creation. They all ask if they can sit in them. They are a source of many conversations. Thanks Again."

"Purchasing a custom ski chair from Rescued Skis was one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had. Dick, the owner and artist, was so accomodating and careful to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I was able to choose colors and he even asked if I had an old wood ski that I would like incorporated into the chair. It was a Christmas present my brother-in-law, and I wasn't surprised when Dick delivered it exactly when he said he would. It's now one of my bro-in-law's most cherished possessions, and it sits right next to his other favorite thing: the backyard barbecue."

"Our Rescued Ski Chair is the envy of everyone that sees it! With its bright colors and comfortable design it is the first choice of chair guests choose to sit in. After answering a couple of questions about color and who the chair was being built for, Dick's artistic talents built the perfect chair for a long time avid N.W. Water Skier!! It was shipped from Florida to Seattle and arrived in perfect condition. It took less then 30 minutes to perfectly put the chair together. Thank you , Dick for sharing your talents, your kindness and building the perfect "Rescued Ski Chair" !!
